The traditional marketing "box" or method of the 4 P's has stood as the standard in marketing since 1960. There have been various attempts to expand upon the 4 P's (the "7 P's" and the "New 4P's") but none have ever taken root until now with the introduction of the SIVA Marketing Model. Proposed by Chekitan Dev and Don Schultz in the Marketing Management Journal of The American Marketing Association, the SIVA Model attempts to rearticulate the 4 P's in a way that is more consistent with today's marketplace building brand power by community vs. the top-down approach of traditional marketing.

SIVA's focus is on Solutions thus the first letter in the acronym. Whatever it takes to solve the customer’s problem. The solution might include your product, as well as partners’ products, solution frameworks, integration tools and services, strategic and technical services, solution training, solution-level support and more.
